Recart is a list growth and SMS marketing platform for Shopify brands. It turns store visitors into email and SMS subscribers with popups and its OneClick Opt-in, then sends SMS flows and campaigns, with a dedicated success manager on higher plans. Tranthor is an autonomous CRM for ecommerce retention: it finds the customer moment, drafts the campaign, and sends within limits you approve. Both help a store bring customers back. They differ in who does the operating work.
This comparison uses Recart's website, pricing page, Shopify App Store listing, and help center as read in October 2026, plus what Tranthor ships today. Where something is not documented, we say so instead of assuming it is missing.

Where Recart is strong
Recart is a focused tool for Shopify brands that want SMS and list growth in one place. Its documentation supports these strengths.
- List growth tools: popups, landing pages, embedded forms, and SMS keywords, plus OneClick Opt-in, which lets returning visitors who signed up on a Recart popup before subscribe with one tap.
- Adaptive Campaigns: you write a Control message and up to four variants, Recart tests them on part of the audience (30% by default), picks the winner by click-through rate or ROI, and sends it to everyone else. Its AI can write up to three variants in your brand voice.
- Sending protections on every account: Smart Sending spaces promotional texts (8 hours recommended, adjustable from 0 to 168), and quiet hours hold promotional texts from 8 PM to 9 AM in each subscriber's local time.
- Managed service: higher plans include a dedicated Customer Success Manager who helps with onboarding, flows, campaigns, testing, and reporting. Self-serve onboarding has been available for new stores since August 2026.
- A read-only MCP server, in open beta since September 2026, that lets assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor answer questions about your Recart data. It cannot create, edit, or send anything.
Where Tranthor works differently
Recart describes itself as an agentic list growth and SMS platform. Its documented automation runs inside campaigns you set up: you choose the audience and write the versions, and Adaptive Campaigns pick and send the winner. Recart's help center says you are in charge of what the AI writes before it goes out. We did not find a documented loop where Recart chooses the moment and audience and sends on its own. Tranthor starts from the customer moment instead. It watches orders, repeat-purchase timing, lapse risk, and customer value, drafts the audience, message, timing, and offer, and sends within limits you approve.
Every Tranthor playbook starts in review, and the first run always drafts for approval. After one approved run you can switch it to auto-send within limits you approve, and later to fully autonomous. Limits you approve are enforced at send time: contact frequency, spacing, a daily send cap, a discount cap, and allowlists for channels, senders, and segments.
How each tool measures results
Recart's Shopify listing states 7-day click attribution for sales, and its pricing page says revenue is attributed only through clicks or unique discount codes. Recart also documents holdout tests: a popup holdout that shows nothing to part of your traffic so you can compare revenue per visitor, and a randomizer branch in an SMS flow that sends nothing to a share of subscribers. Its managed service page lists holdout testing to check the incremental lift of SMS.
Tranthor reports lift where you configure a holdout. A random group is held back and compared with the group that received the campaign, and it needs 100 customers in each group before it shows a result. Holdouts are opt-in, so lift is not measured on every send.
Channels and Arabic
Recart sends SMS and MMS. Its popups also collect email addresses, which sync to email platforms such as Klaviyo, Attentive, Omnisend, Iterable, and Privy. Recart retired Facebook Messenger across all accounts in 2025. We did not find email sending, push, WhatsApp, or RCS documented as Recart channels. Tranthor sends email, SMS and WhatsApp, in journeys and in autonomous sends.
For Arabic, Recart's documentation does not cover Arabic or right-to-left messages, and its Shopify listing names English as the app's language. Tranthor email templates carry per-language variants and render right-to-left locales such as Arabic.
When Recart is the better fit
- SMS is your main retention channel and list growth is the priority, with popups and one-tap opt-in.
- You already send email from Klaviyo or another email platform and want SMS and popups that feed it.
- You want a success manager to help plan and run your SMS program.
- You want holdout tests on popups and SMS flows to check incremental revenue.
When Tranthor is the better fit
- You are a lean DTC brand with no one to operate retention day to day.
- You want approval-first autonomy, with approved limits enforced at send time.
- You want email, SMS and WhatsApp drafted and sent from one place.
- You send email in Arabic and want templates with right-to-left variants.
