Drip is an email marketing automation and onsite popup tool for online stores, with prebuilt ecommerce workflows and SMS for customers in the United States. Tranthor is an autonomous CRM for ecommerce retention: it finds the customer moment, drafts the campaign, and sends within limits you approve. Both help a store bring customers back. They differ in who does the operating work.
This comparison uses Drip's help center and its Shopify App Store listing as read in October 2026, plus what Tranthor ships today. Where something is not documented, we say so instead of assuming it is missing.

Where Drip is strong
Drip is a capable tool for a team that wants to design and run its own email program. Its documentation supports these strengths.
- Prebuilt workflows for welcome, abandoned cart, post-first-purchase, post-repeat-purchase, and win-back, plus Shopify templates for back-in-stock and price drop.
- Workflow split tests that randomly assign people to up to five paths, so you can compare tactics and declare a winner.
- Onsite popups, embedded forms, quizzes, and spin-to-win games alongside a visual email builder with Drip templates.
- An MCP connector that lets assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT read and operate your account. You choose read access, write access, or both, and higher-impact writes ask for confirmation before they run.
- Built-in SMS compliance safeguards: sends only between 8 am and 9 pm in the subscriber's local time, and automatic opt-out on STOP replies.
Where Tranthor works differently
Drip's automation runs the workflows you build, and its AI access comes through an outside assistant connected over MCP, which acts when you ask it to. We did not find a documented autonomous send loop. Tranthor starts from the customer moment instead. It watches orders, repeat-purchase timing, lapse risk, and customer value, drafts the audience, message, timing, and offer, and sends within limits you approve.
Every Tranthor playbook starts in review, and the first run always drafts for approval. After one approved run you can switch it to auto-send within limits you approve, and later to fully autonomous. Limits you approve are enforced at send time: contact frequency, spacing, a daily send cap, a discount cap, and allowlists for channels, senders, and segments.
How each tool measures results
Drip credits a purchase to an email when the customer clicked it within the attribution window, or was seen on the site within a day of receiving it and bought within five days. The window defaults to five days and can be changed, and an Email Only setting limits credit to clicks. The dashboard's Drip-attributed revenue uses last-touch attribution, and SMS revenue is credited only when a recipient clicks a link and buys within five days. Split tests compare paths against each other, and Drip does not calculate statistical significance. A holdout or no-send control group is not documented.
Tranthor reports lift where you configure a holdout. A random group is held back and compared with the group that received the campaign, and it needs 100 customers in each group before it shows a result. Holdouts are opt-in, so lift is not measured on every send.
Channels and Arabic
Drip supports email, onsite popups and forms, and SMS and MMS. Its help center says SMS is currently available to customers in the United States, after a request and review by its compliance team. WhatsApp and push are not documented. Tranthor sends email, SMS and WhatsApp, in journeys and in autonomous sends.
For Arabic, right-to-left support is not documented in Drip's help center. Tranthor email templates carry per-language variants with right-to-left rendering for Arabic.

- You send in Arabic and want email templates with right-to-left variants.
- You want WhatsApp in your journeys alongside email and SMS, or you want to start on a free plan.
